Lanhydrock is managed by Graham and Clare Bond. The Bond family credentials in golf are first rate with Graham’s father Hermon, and his brother Martin, creating the first Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in the UK at St Mellion, Cornwall. The venue hosted many European Tour Events with champions including Bernard Langer and Seve Ballesteros. Graham’s brother Alan is a Professional Caddy on the USPGA Tour caddying for Carl Pettersson. Always known for genuine warm hospitality and customer service, these qualities can still be expected at Lanhydrock Hotel & Golf Club.
The Club originally opened in 1990 as Bodmin Golf & Country Club. It was purchased by the family in 1993 and a new clubhouse was immediately constructed, together with investment in the course on machinery, drainage and the implementation of a planting programme – The hotel did not follow until 2006.
The colours, textures and furnishings have all been carefully chosen by Clare to achieve a spacious, airy and contemporary feel with some opulent and classic undertones, all designed to enhance your stay in Cornwall.
The majority of the team employed at Lanhydrock are local to the hotel or from the South West. Much business comes by word-of-mouth which is rewarding for all at Lanhydrock who have devoted so much time and energy into the business.
Graham and Clare’s eldest Son Oliver, who used to be part of the green keeping team, is in the Army. Their youngest Son Christian, having also worked on the course, now has his dream job selling cars. You may also see the other members of the family, Bruce & Basil the black Labradors, at the Club from time to time.
