December 2013 – news and goings on

Happy Christmas one and all!

Well, we’re all ready for Christmas here at Lanhydrock – the giant tree is up (12ft, 7” well done to Angie for guessing correctly on our Facebook competition – enjoy your prize of a Sunday carvery at Lanhydrock), our famous Xpress Xmas Carvery’s are going down a treat and there are still a few spaces left for our New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner & Dance – don’t miss out! The brilliant MFC Chicken will be playing “rock ‘n’ roll taken back to its roots”! Visit our website to get a taster for their unique sound.

Looking back at 2013

What a busy year! We’ve been working hard to make improvements to the hotel and golf club as well as working with local businesses and communities on various other exciting new projects…

Most recent news

Finest of fitness facilities: No need to wait for that New Year’s resolution – you can get fit before Christmas in our brand new purpose-built Fitness Suite! Now open, the state of the art equipment from leading providers Life Fitness means that it’s not just another gym in Cornwall but a great addition to both the hotel and the area – well, we think so anyway! Come and have a look for yourself…
A ‘hole’ new experience: We recently teamed up with Newquay based ‘Superdrone’ to film each our of 18 golf holes using the latest in aerial video technology.  A small but perfectly formed mini helicopter took to the skies above Lanhydrock to film a ‘flythrough’ view of each hole offering the golfer a great opportunity to see an aerial view of the course. Click here to see the course from a ‘hole’ new perspective.
Cycling into view: In the summer we pledged our support over the next 5 years to the new Lanhydrock Cycle Hub, both with a donation to the project and a commitment to make the hotel more “cycle-friendly”. The circa 10km of new off-road trails and construction of a new cycle hire building and café within the National Trust Lanhydrock Estate is well under way and is due to be completed early in the new year.
Up to speed: We have increased our broadband width supply through the addition of further telephone lines. With businesses operating more remotely now than ever we will be able to accommodate the increasing demands of video conferencing and online operations. Not only this, we have also invested in the latest Wi-Fi technology to enable us to manage our Wi-Fi through the building more effectively.
More than just ‘A Room with a View’: We are extending two of our existing double rooms into Luxury Double Suites. The new modern and spacious rooms with stunning views of the golf course and surrounding area will be ready for occupancy in April.

Other events in 2013

Charity Golf Day: In June, 144 golfers helped us to raise £5000 for Care for Casualties and the Royal British Legion at the Lanhydrock Charity Golf Day. Following its resounding success this year, we plan to hold the event again in 2014. Thank you to everyone who supported the event – we hope to see you next year!
Win a wedding: Many congratulations to Andrew Vickers & Lucy Cruse who won a wedding with Pirate FM and will be tying the knot at Lanhydrock in February.
Fish supper: In August we held a Friday Fish Supper, delicious freshly caught fish and specially chosen wines for a Friday night treat – look out for more events like this in 2014!
